Dear Dallas SWEsters,

Dallas SWE leadership is closely monitoring developing news regarding COVID-19 in an effort to keep everyone healthy and safe. We understand that Judge Clay Jenkins has placed Dallas County in a State of Emergency. In light of these updates and conditions, we are making adjustments to our upcoming programming. As some of you may have seen, our March Professional Development meeting has been cancelled. The March Social Hike and Brunch is also cancelled. For future events, we will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments to our schedules, events, and commitments, as needed. We will adhere to directives and guidelines provided by the DFW metroplex and the Society. As a general reminder, please follow preventative actions to stop the spread of disease and if you are sick or developing symptoms, please stay home or away from events.

February Professional Development Meeting Recap

During the first professional development meeting of 2020 Aditi Banerjee, Managing Director at Accenture, spoke on making and executing a successful plan in order to meet personal and professional goals. Throughout the night, members asked questions and the room became a discussion hub led by Ms. Banerjee. She began the night by sharing her own career path.  She pointed out that as she was promoted and worked with different products, in order to be successful, she went beyond her job responsibilities to learn product/ concept she was working on in depth. She emphasized the importance of having a mentor and shared some key tips her mentor gave her. To wrap up the night, she shared strategies she uses to stay on track and focused on her goals, including writing them down, monitoring and updating as needed. She encouraged us to be flexible with our journey and be open-minded when new opportunities come up because sometimes those unexpected opportunities challenge you to grow.
