August Member of the Month: Anmolika Singh

Congratulations to Anmolika Singh, Dallas SWE’s August Member of the Month!

Anmolika Singh is a driven data scientist with a passion for economics, entrepreneurship, and innovation. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Data Sciences with a specialization in Economics from The Pennsylvania State University, where she honed her skills in a wide range of technologies.

Currently, Anmolika serves as part of the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics team at Stanley Black & Decker in Plano, TX, in the Stanley Leadership Program (SLP). In her role she has undertaken various projects that demonstrate her technical expertise. From developing machine learning models for sentiment analysis in ecommerce, automating efficient ways for industrial availability calculation, Anmolika has proven her ability to extract valuable insights from data to drive informed decision-making.

Anmolika’s career growth showcases her adaptability and dedication to continuous learning. During her tenure as a Professional Services Intern at Dell Boomi, she contributed significantly to client-facing projects and developing applications with API integrations.

Beyond her technical achievements, Anmolika is actively involved in supporting women in engineering through her leadership roles. As a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) in Plano, she served on the Outreach and Scholarships Sub-Committee, facilitating scholarships for high school students and volunteered at outreach events to promote women’s participation in STEM fields. Anmolika’s dedication to supporting women extends beyond SWE, as she also plays a pivotal role in the Stanley Leadership Program Committees, leading initiatives that welcome and guide new SLPs and organizing speaker series to foster leadership development.

Anmolika’s commitment to empowering women in engineering is best reflected in her quote about the Society of Women in Engineering: “What I like the most about the Society of Women in Engineering is its unwavering commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for women to thrive in the engineering industry. Through their programs and initiatives, SWE not only encourages professional growth but also fosters a strong sense of community and camaraderie among women engineers.”

Dallas SWE – Membership Appreciation Event Recap

On Saturday June 11th, Dallas SWE hosted a Membership Appreciation Event at Freeplay, Inc. We started off with a presentation to recognize the executive board and the committee members who helped put together events for Dallas SWE this past fiscal year. In addition, we recognized the Member of the Months and the scholarship recipients for FY23. Afterwards, we got some appetizers and had a good time networking with new members, catching up with old friends, and playing some good old retro arcade games.

We also had an opportunity to recap some of the events we held in FY23. We had the opportunity to learn how bright the younger generation is through outreach events like DYW and Girls Inc. Also, the professional development events were very educational like the Resume Roast with Analog Devices. The social events like the Spring Social gave everyone an opportunity to meet people in a casual setting while working on art projects. Finally, we have had some great book club meetings this past year.

Thank you to all the members of Dallas SWE for making it a great year – we would not be able to do any of this without your support and enthusiasm! Let’s see what FY24 has in store for us!

July Member of the Month: Jordan Rider

Congratulations to Dallas SWE’s July Member of the Month: Jordan Rider!

From a young age, Jordan had an affinity for STEM related fields. By participating in science clubs and special projects throughout elementary, middle, and high school she fostered a love for STEM fields that led to pursuing a career in engineering.

Jordan first became involved with SWE when she joined her collegiate chapter at the University of North Texas in 2020. She is still working to complete her B.S. in Mechanical and Energy Engineering and strives to be very involved with their SWE chapter.

As a member and officer in UNT SWE, Jordan has been able to lead and implement positive changes following the return to a post-pandemic campus. This coming year will be their third year as a UNT SWE officer and second as UNT SWE President. She has helped plan and lead on-campus events where industry professionals are welcomed to present on a variety of topics to chapter members, as well as outreach events such us Discovery Park’s STEM @ the Park.

This past year, Jordan has started to become more interactive with Dallas SWE. They have advertised Dallas SWE events with their chapter and participated in Design Your World for the first time as an Activity Lead.

Jordan is looking forward to staying active with UNT SWE and Dallas SWE, as well as finishing her degree to start her professional career.

Event Recap: Dallas SWE Spring WE Local Conferences

Dallas SWE’s attendance at WE Local Detroit and WE Local Seattle was a great experience for our members. At WE Local in Detroit, held on February 17-18, our President, Rana Karimi, attended and delivered her talk on gender and negotiations. Rana’s expertise and engaging presentation captivated the audience, providing valuable insights and inspiration for women in engineering.

Additionally, we had three Dallas SWE members attend WE Local in Seattle on March 31-Apri 1. Our members showcased their knowledge and dedication to the engineering community. Notably, SWE is honored to recognize Dallas SWE Member, Ashley Johnson, for being awarded the WE Local FY23 Local New ELiTE Award. Ashley’s award honors SWE members with less than ten years of experiences in an engineering, engineering technology, or science related to engineering profession, who have demonstrated outstanding technical performance and proactively served SWE.

Additionally, at WE Local Seattle, our Secretary and Webmaster, Sammy Zellner, and our former VP of Membership, Claire Jordan, showcased their expertise by delivering insightful and thought-provoking presentations, leaving a lasting impact on the attendees. Sammy and Claire each presented two sessions, covering topics spanning from relocation, resume best practices, adulting 101, and email etiquette.

Dallas SWE’s presence at both WE Local Detroit and WE Local Seattle showcased the chapter’s commitment to professional development, SWE leadership, knowledge sharing, and empowering women in engineering. SWE conferences provide invaluable opportunities for our members to network, learn, and be recognized. We look forward to attending this year’s Annual conference in Los Angeles!
