Congrats to Dana Emswiler, Dallas SWE’s May Member of the Month!
Dana joined the Society of Women Engineers during her first year of college at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt). Pitt SWE was an incredible community for Dana throughout her time in college, where she served in multiple leadership roles including as Vice President of Professional Development on the Executive Board for two years, where she spearheaded corporate sponsorship and professional development events. After co-chairing Pitt SWE’s signature professional development event, the Women in STEM Conference, for three years; Dana created a spin-off event: the FiERCE Forum [Females in Engineering Reaching Career Empowerment], which featured educational lightning talks and panel discussions.
Dana graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 2021. She started her career with Eaton in their Operations Management Leadership Development Program, where her first rotation was in St. Louis as a Project Manager for engineering & supply chain projects in the Bussmann business. Her second rotation was in Connecticut as a Lean Coordinator for the aerospace group. Dana’s final rotation connected her with the Dallas SWE section – she is currently concluding her assignment in the Sherman, TX plant as their Quality Supervisor. She will soon be completing the leadership development program and transitioning to her next role within Eaton’s operations.
Despite moving every year, SWE has remained a constant – Dana was involved in the St. Louis section, Connecticut section (where she served on the Scholarship Committee), and now Dallas section (where she serves on the Outreach Committee). She also led the Community Relations Team for WELocal Hartford last year, while living in Connecticut. On the societal level, Dana has been involved in the Program Development & Member Engagement Committees, as well as the Early Career Professionals & Athletes Affinity Groups.
Dana is also active in WAVE [Women Adding Value at Eaton], one of Eaton’s inclusion resource groups, currently serving on the global team as a co-lead for SWE. In this role, she drives Eaton’s SWE participation which includes expanding professional development/conference engagement, facilitating awards & recognition, and supporting involvement throughout each global region. Prior to this role, she served on the North America team as an outreach co-lead and as the Bussmann chapter’s co-lead.
Dana is extremely passionate about advocating for women in STEM and loves to give back by mentoring the next generation of women engineers & leaders! In addition to volunteering, in her free time, Dana loves running & fitness, cooking, reading, and traveling.
