Dallas SWE’s Professional Development Day Empowers Women in STEM

Dallas SWE’s Professional Development Day was an amazing event filled with inspiring women in STEM. The event took place on March 23rd, 2024 at the 2501 State Hwy 121 #800, Lewisville, TX 75067. The event was open to both SWE members and non-SWE members.

The day started with a warm welcome from Nicole Anklam, Dallas SWE PD Vice president and team followed by the opportunity to take professional headshots and network with other professionals.The panel discussion on “Managing Up and Giving/Receiving Feedback” was a standout session of the event, offering valuable insights and engaging dialogue. Moderated by Anmolika Singh, a Data Scientist at Stanley Black & Decker, the session featured distinguished panelists sharing their expertise. The panel featured Susanna Biancheri, Vice President at AT&T’s Strategic Program Office, Nakshatra Gajbhiye, Product Line Manager at Texas Instruments, Lynn Mortensen, a retired aerospace executive from Raytheon, and Barbara Read, Principal Quality Engineer at RTX Raytheon. Each brought unique insights from their extensive careers in engineering and leadership.

The speaker, Michele Rodgers, gave a fantastic talk on “Building Your Brand” that provided great tips on how to stand out in the industry. The talk was engaging and informative, leaving attendees with valuable knowledge to implement in their professional lives.

The event also featured lightning talks that covered a wide range of topics, including conference presentation highlights from some of our members. These talks were incredibly informative and provided attendees with insights into new areas.

Overall, the event was a great opportunity to network with like-minded professionals and learn from some of the best in the industry. The Society of Women Engineers Dallas Professional Development Committee put up a highly successful event and would like to thank everyone who attended, your participation helped make the event a huge success!
