Dallas and Fort Worth SWE sections teamed up to run activities at the Frontiers of Flight Museum for their annual Moon Day program. This annual event celebrates the anniversary of the first Moon landing. Jill Freer and Natalie White from Fort Worth SWE, Vaishnavi Mirapurkar from UTA SWE and Nandika D’Souza, Teri Cate, Terriekka Cardenas, Samica Norman and Zaineb Ahmad from Dallas SWE volunteered. There were over 1500 adults, boys, and girls who came to Moon Day. 40 boys and 52 girls stopped by the Dallas and Fort Worth booth and participated in activities from 10 through 4 pm. They picked between making a doorbell or a light. The doorbell option led to parents quickly calling for the value of a switch. They also worked with alternative switches ranging from magnetic non-contact options and dimmer switches. Girl Scout troop leaders were excited to learn about the Dallas SWE Design Your World Conference and opportunities to earn badges with them.
Thanks to all of the volunteers that made this event possible!
