We successfully held our first, and most certainly not last, SWE/SHPE/NSBE joint mixer. Not only did we mingle among the other minority engineering professional organizations but we had a panel talk with representatives from each organization.
The panel members were asked questions on how they handle various issues and situations they have faced as minorities in engineering. There were also great answers regarding how companies can keep Millenials, females, and minorities at in their organizations and how to help them thrive. We got some great feedback from attendees on how we can help each other serve our local communities and promote diversity in engineering in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We look forward to more interaction and collaboration with SHPE and NSBE in the future!
